Project details
In 2025, Coastal Jazz, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting community and the arts, celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival with more than 160 performances across the city.
To commemorate the milestone, I developed a retro-inspired illustration system featuring expressive instrument graphics, bold typography, saturated colour palettes, and rhythmic patterns. The visual direction paid homage to the festival’s four-decade legacy while capturing its energetic, contemporary spirit.
The anniversary identity was implemented across a wide range of touchpoints, including transit advertising, a printed pocket guide, digital and print campaigns, large-scale banners on the Burrard Street Bridge, and extensive event signage. Custom merchandise such as shirts, tote bags, and stickers extended the brand’s outreach, giving festivalgoers a tangible way to participate in the celebration.
